The name comes from the unique pole geometry, with vertical, pre-bent poles that create a high side over the door, maximizing liveable space without adding weight. The opposite pole angle slopes away to help shed rain. Made from upgraded ultralight fabrics with a 3,000mm Hydrostatic Head rating for reliable waterproof performance, this tent weighs in at an impressive 1.2kg. Oh, and its now green a much better colour for stealthy wild camps. Yet it still boasts a large, versatile porch, which thanks to a secondary zip can be elevated using a hiking pole or a guy line to create a large awning, providing covered storage for you and your gear. • Maybe its no wonder that the state of California has been the cradle for so many great American outdoor brands. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and encompassing no less than nine US National Parks, the Golden State has long been a mecca for outdoor adventurers of every ilk. Sierra Designs is a case in point. California was the natural place for the brands co-founders, a pair of young outdoor aficionados named George Marks and Bob Swanson, to set up shop.

  They first met in late 1963 at while working at The Ski Hut in Berkeley, CA. Two years later, Sierra Designs was born.
