One-person palace for solo adventurers

Designed for long-distance solo backpackers, this ultralight shelter offers great headroom and loads of liveable space in a compact one-man design. With a pack weight of under a kilo and multiple tent configurations, its a great option for long and varied trips. Pitch it as a full tent and you get a full nylon mesh insect screen, upgraded waterproof fabrics, a bathtub groundsheet and a porch for your gear. Alternatively, pitch it as a tarp alone. Itll still hold up in strong winds with attachment points for additional guy lines. Oh, and its now green a much better colour for stealthy wild camps. And since your trekking poles replace tent poles, it stows away into a stuff sack, making it super easy to break camp in the morning and get back on the trail.

• Maybe its no wonder that the state of California has been the cradle for so many great American outdoor brands. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains, and encompassing no less than nine US National Parks, the Golden State has long been a mecca for outdoor adventurers of every ilk. Sierra Designs is a case in point. California was the natural place for the brands co-founders, a pair of young outdoor aficionados named George Marks and Bob Swanson, to set up shop.

  They first met in late 1963 at while working at The Ski Hut in Berkeley, CA. Two years later, Sierra Designs was born. Today, the brand continues to create outdoor equipment and apparel that is functional, beautiful, and most importantly, attainable, enabling outdoor lovers throughout the USA and beyond to hit the trail and fill their souls with a sense of wanderlust.
