Guess what’s unusual about the Formula top? There’s a sneaky clue in the name, actually, because the fabric in this long-sleeved tee is made from milk. Specifically, a protein called casein, which can be extracted from powdered milk and converted into textile yarn. You end up with something that’s a lot like wool and in fact the heyday of ‘milk cotton’ during the wool shortages of the 30s and 40s. As cheaper synthetics flooded the market post WW2, it fell out of fashion, which is a real shame, because casein-blend fabric has loads of great characteristics. It’s soft on the skin, moisture-wicking and naturally antibacterial, making it ideal for relaxed activewear like this comfy hiking tee.

Amundsen Sports is named after one of the greatest explorers ever to walk the Earth. No pressure there then. In fact, the companys co-founder, Jrgen Amundsen, is a relative of the legendary man himself, and the brands designs are based on classic styles from the golden age of exploration. Throw in a generous dash of 1960s Nordic ski resort chic and youve got a unique range of good-looking kit thatll get you noticed in all the right ways.
However, theres nothing old-fashioned about the way Amundsens gear performs. Ruggedly built from merino wool and waterproof triple-layer cotton, these are serious expedition-grade garments built for a Scandi outdoor culture a concept that the Norwegians call friluftsliv, or open-air life. Its the idea that time spent enjoying the freedom of the outdoors should be a core part of your life, since it enhances just about everything else. Now thats something we can all get on board with.
